One Quarter of My Journey

Today is my twenty-fifth post. That means I am one quarter of the way to my 100th post. I know this isn’t breaking news, but for me, there is great significance. It represents the reason I can even consider writing future posts. Simply put, it’s because of you, my gracious blog family.

When I started this blog, I was scared. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The concept of an online diary was both appealing and terrifying. Remember, I’m the girl who has successfully resisted all forms of social networking thus far. In fact, I still don’t have a FACEBOOK account and probably never will.

I was private to a fault. My fears of being judged kept me isolated. It was like a social paralysis. Yet, the more lonely I became the more desperate I was for human interaction.

A few months ago, I decided to risk looking foolish. There were two choices before me. I could either continue to hide under my rock and never experience meaningful human exchange. Or, I could push through my insecurity and dive into this magical interactive universe. Fortunately, I chose the latter.

Blogging has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in years. It has breathed new life into my dry bones. It has restored my faith in community.

With sincerest gratitude, I want to thank you blog family for joining me on this journey. You have all made my burden a little lighter. You make me laugh, some make me cry, most just confirm that I’m not alone in this world. I feel like a little kid on Christmas whenever I receive a like or get to read your comments. Love opening your gifts of friendship!

My heart is full. Looking forward to many more quarters together.

Hugs,

Anka :)

  2. Congrats on your 25th post!! You have a wonderful blog and I look forward to reading it! Before I started blogging, I had never read a blog before so I didn’t know what to expect. Blogging has far exceeded my expectations as well. Everyone is so friendly and it really is a great community of people!

    • Thank you Melissa! That means a lot coming from someone whose blog I enjoy reading as well. I look forward to reading all your posts. By the way, love the new look of your blog. Purple happens to be one of my favorite colors!

      • Thanks, I’m so technologically challenged so it was quite the process on Saturday to reconstruct everything! Thanks for noticing!!

  3. Congratulations on making 25 posts. It IS a big deal. I have enjoyed reading them immensely, and will continue to do so. I’m so glad you chose to share your world with the rest of us. By reaching out to others, you let them know they are not alone either, which is such a gift for your readers, especially young moms like yourself. I really wish the blog-o-sphere would have been around to help the moms of my generation know that we weren’t alone. Keep up the good work!

    • Thank you Julie! Your words encourage me to keep on keeping on. Though it’s not second skin for me to pour my life out onto pages of the blogoshere, I am becoming increasingly comfortable because this community creates a place of safety. Also, you bring up a good point about just how lucky we are as mothers to have this outlet. I’m sure child rearing was even more difficult without these supportive platforms. As always, I enjoy reading your funnier than life posts. They really are a bright spot in my day! :)

      • Why thanks! and ditto!–Today, I’m trying something new. I’m participating in Edward Hotspurs new challenge-Romantic Monday, and while my entry will have my (dork) stamp all over it, it’s a very real and personal look into my life, which has to this point, been stranger than fiction. I hope you’ll read it if you have time! I plan to give it one more good scan for typos and such, and it should be up soon. :-)

      • Ha, like the “dork stamp” factor! I will definitely read your entry in the Romantic Monday challenge. Looking forward to getting a good laugh!

      • Well, it’s up, but dammm WP, showed that I posted it on the 19th, so it’s already buried. I took it down and reposted, but it’s still not showing up in the categories I tagged it in. Grrr!!! I hate it when that happens.

      • Oh man! That’s happened to me before. I just ended up reposting. When I contacted WordPress Support Forum about why it’s not showing up in the Reader, they said I might have too many tags. Is it possible to reduce some of the tags/categories and see if that helps?

      • Well, I have 10 tags, which may be too many. I took it down, put it in the trash, reposted, but it still shows up as being posted 3 days ago. That seems to happen to me a lot when I edit a piece many, many times, and work on it for quite a few days. looking at the publishing date and time is something I forget to watch for. I’ll have to be more careful about that. I apologize to my followers who were notified of the post more than once, due to mulitple publishing efforts. Ooops. :-)

  4. Congratulations on you 25th! We look forward to the next 25. Keep up the fantastic work!

    • I’m humbled to hear that. It’s not easy coming out of your shell. I am an introvert at my core so any form of social networking seemed unnatural. But the reality is, I was tired of being a lone ranger. No one can stay lonely for long and remain happy. Thank you for joining me on this journey! :)

      • From one introvert to another I hope blogging gives you the same buzz and release it does for me. Nice to meet you :)

  15. Congratulations! You had me hooked with Peppa Pig, and I always look for your posts. I’m enjoying reading very much, and look forward to more… (I’m only at 20, but maybe in a month or so I’ll reach a quarter century too – hope so!) Xx

As for you and your post count, please let us know when you reach “one quarter” too. I look forward to reading many more stories . . .

  16. Glad to be a new member of the blog family. I love reading your posts and it seems we both dig this blogging thing for similar reasons. And I no longer have a personal FB profile, just the page for the blog. Best decision I’ve ever made! Congrats on the 25th post!

    • Thanks Ericka! The feeling is quite mutual. Your blog is like, how should I say it, “my GUILTY pleasure.” Your whit is unending! As for Facebook, I never had a real need to join. Sounds like you have no regrets about your decision either. Until next time . . .

    • Good question. Any ideas? Maybe I could have a party in the backyard. My husband and kids to listen to me read all 25 posts and then we could have a little Q & A session. Who am I kidding they would NEVER agree to be my captive audience. Although I could bribe them with cake and coffee . . .

  21. Hooray! Someone else who doesn’t have a facebook account! I blog but I feel that facebook is just far too invasive and I don’t want all to know my every move and thought. Plus I would spend hours idly looking at friends’ lives instead of getting on with my own.

    • Yay! We are definitely kindred spirits. I feel the same way about Facebook, far too invasive. I feel like I develop more meaningful relationships by blogging.
