I’ll Have Mine “On the Rocks”

It’s not what you think. Let me explain.

Weekends are supposed to constitute rest. But for some, the work week blends right into the weekend so there’s no noticeable difference. Just plain busy.

Then there are those who get to share a quiet dinner with other adults or enjoy watching a new movie release at the theaters. Not me. My Friday nights have done a 180 degree turn since having kids.

Nowadays, if I’m lucky my kids will fall asleep by 9:30 p.m., I’ll finish cleaning up by 10:30 p.m., and finally, get a chance to settle down after I check emails and finish perusing the Reader.

Well, when I was done doing all my “stuff,” I went into the kitchen, turned on the lights, and grabbed an Arrowhead water bottle. It’s been hot here on the West Coast so I chugged down my drink.

Half way through, I spit out a rock. Yes a rock. I unknowingly drank a concoction made of water, dirt, and, rocks.

Apparently, my kids had collected rocks from the park and decided to store them in the water bottle on the kitchen counter. I was so tired I didn’t even notice.

Brings new meaning to having a drink “on the rocks.” Cheers!

  1. HaHa I can completely relate. A few months ago I opened a Tupperware container thinking I was going to find food and instead a salamander crawled out and up my arm!

    • A salamander? That tupperware container would’ve dropped to the floor in a second! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Haha, I had a simliar experience: my (then) 5 year old did put her collection of (living) rainworms in a Tupperware container and left it in the drawer with the lunchboxes. When I wanted to get it in the morning to put in her lunch you can imagine my reaction…

    • No, I cannot imagine your reaction. I would’ve probably screamed. Kids sure do have a funny way of protecting things they love. Thanks for sharing.

    • My kids thought it was hilarious too! My daughter said she’s going to write about “how mommy drank rocks” in her school journal. Gotta love it I guess.
